on a valentine's day!
Like hello one and all!I hope you had a great valentine's day be it with someone or without.
I had an easy going saturday! I received a FLOWER [HAHAHAHAHA] and a cup of bubble tea.
My brother just screamed at me for asking a dumb IT question[ "eh kor kor a, I download an attachment from the e-mail , it goes where ah?"] Dumb I know but i seriously couldn't find it, and talking real loudly when I went into the room coz I freaking didn't know his girlfriend was sleeping on the bed LOL.
AND I HAVE YET TO REMOVE ME MASCARA~
Ah anyway let's rewind a little.
13/02
I was wandering around my schools. I HAD an appointment at 1030hrs, don't know why all the contractors arrived at 1000hrs.
SO TOO BAD. Didn't get to be there.
Arrived at Singpost and since I was in the vicinity, called up KingMeng who happened to be working near by!
Yes, KingMeng, one of the legendary 3 math tutors who helped me get a B4 from an F9.
It was a dreadfully dusty late afternoon. Wondering what's with the fog/haze/smog around Paya lebar vicinity as I didn't see any haze/fog/smoke around serangoon.
Caught up a little and he soon had to go as it was an "unofficial" coffee break. Found out good news and I extend my heartiest congratulations!
After which he left, I went to do some atas-ing.
Coffee and pastry at coffee bean.
This month's Cleo was a total worth-it buy! Luckily KM left earlier or else if he'd been beside me I'd talk off his ear about this month's issue. What with the bachelor's stupid one liners to promote themselves to the fashion pages.
My initial plan was to waste an hour or so to meet up with my bf later on for a movie and dinner. Plans changed when he msged me he'd be later and my aunt called me to accompany her to get clothes.
Mehhhhh.
So after my very short and sweet shopping trip with my aunt at Parkway, I whizzed off to The Cathay to meet dearie.
He was ADAMANT to watch The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, I was tethering more towards the much talked and wrote about Slumdog Millionaire.
Slumdog Millionaire was left with single seats whereas Curious case still had seats so we got that.
Before the movie,we went off to Paradiz Center to have an early Vday dinner.
While waiting for the food.
I forgot to take a picture of the food as we were too ravenous -.-
However, I did manage to take a picture of their SUBLIME Banana ala mode.
DELICIOUS. Their dessert was extremely delightful and tasty, but much cannot be said the same for their food spread.
BF had the Black pepper steak while I got the beef lasagne.
Joel ordered his medium well and got medium rare instead.
More like 30% cooked and 70% bloody. Steak was mildly lukewarm as well.
Price: $13.90
Verdict: Fail.
Beef Lasagne, not enough tomato paste/sauce in it and the beef was very rubbery, instantly can chew out that it's the frozen kind.
Eat a few mouthfuls, youd just want to set the fork down and push the plate away due to its extreme cheesiness, which is good, but thats the only thing you can actually taste?
Price: $9.90
verdict: Pass, not spectacular but edible.
The dessert!
Banana alamode or something I forgot its name.
Simply divine!
$5.90 was worth every single cent!
The dish included a banana crumble ( Mini banana pie with crumbles) warmed, a sliced banana and a scoop of vanilla ice cream , all liberally drizzled over with caramel.
Looks yummy right!
It sure WAS!
Verdict: 5/5 STARS! A must try!
After dinner, just nice our movie was about to start.
It was truly, a great story line, and had great editing as well as filming.
It was a long movie, and had the audience enraptured in its story-telling like pace, gently bringing you through the life of Benjamin Button.
A man who was born old and grows younger as he ages.
There were several little side stories, that may or may not have any relevance, but were still crucial in the crux of the story, such as the old man who keeps on telling that he got struck by lightning 7 times. GENIUS.
The casting was brilliant to a detail, the scene filmed at the brothel, the woman sitting in the scene when the captain was showing off his art, was a perfect image of the average woman so often depicted in that era.
Porcelain white skin, dark slightly curly hair and pouty lips.
I wouldn't say the actors and actresses shone, but I must applaud Cate Blanchett's role.
It is the first time ever, that I took notice of her.
Script and dialouge, TEAR JERKING T_T
I was practically tearing like siao towards the end when Benjamin Button got younger and younger. THE IRONY!
Only Joel was like, " Why are you crying??!?!?!"
When even the Indian dude beside him was crying waaaaaay before my tears rolled.
Poignant, well worth the weekend price, definitely wouldn't mind watching it again.
To add on its good list for me, it had a small segment of a war scene!
Yes, I truly love war movies.
Pearl Harbour , Taeguki, Atonement,.. etc etc.
I don't really like civil wars and stuff but I don't mind The Last Samurai [ Satsuma rebellion], Hotel Rwanda & Blood diamond!
Wind talkers was alright.
While searching for the titles I stumbled on to so many more.
I am currently v interested in watching:
Platoon
Schindler's List
Black Hawk Down
Flags of our fathers
Letters from Iwo jima
Lust, Caution
The boy in the striped Pyjamas
The children of Huang shi
A Very Long Engagement
The Pianist
Captain Corelli's Manodolin
Good
In the valley of Elah
The Kite Runner
Saving Private Ryan
And definitely, I would want to see
Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence
Where such a beautiful piano instrumental song began.
If you've other war films or film with a slight segment of war ala Forrest Gump/Atonement, do let me know.
There were many terms I read about, such as the thousand yard stare and everything.
To think I was previously reading about norse mythology, about valkyries before heading into digging up more war titles.
By the way, I was watching , " Stranger than fiction."
Emma Thompson is fantastic in her role!
FANTASTIC.
Oh and I have GOOD NEWS!
But I am not ready to share it yet. HAHAHAHA.
Till the next time, au revoir.
