Not so sleazy geylang please
Hello one & all!The other day, I went out with a mission, a mission to bloody patch up my falling-apart kitchen.
-Its lights were spazzing out, YES BOTH LIGHTS flickering. And there's nothing we can do about it coz I think the fixture latch is rusted! Cannot change light bulb!
-Toilet tap dripping like no tomorrow.
-Shower head disintegrating.
-Heater with a slight bulge and yellowing.
I was VERY irritated already, nobody wanted to do ANYTHING about it.
Anyway,
I figured while I was going to scout for cheap lightings and POSSIBLY a new heater if the price was right, I'd take the camera out for a spin.
The area where I was heading to is more notoriously known as the RED LIGHT district, which is GEYLANG.
I LOVE Geylang.
- I don't love it's heavy lingerings of perfume, ciggy smoke and alcohol fumes wafting out from the pubs at night.
- I don't love the lewd pervy men walking around. In fact I am DISGUSTED at them.
- I don't love the way they take pictures of several girls and paste them on the doors for picks.
- And I certainly do not love the fightings and crime sprees that may happen along it.
But for what it's worth I think Geylang isn't all about that.
I wasn't able to walk the entire stretch as sun down was imminent and a single girl walking around with a camera? Hell, I more afraid I drop my camera while running ah.
My walk started out from here,
The canal beside Grandlink Square. Surprisingly, there isn't any unbearable stench emitting from it, thus allowing a lot of eateries to open shop beside it.
Some good ones closed down like Peppery, a few are left there.
EH, Jerry & I often go that area to play LAN.
Started walking down the road,
I like Geylang's Shop houses. I like Geylang's SUPER random shops side by side.
I soon stopped here,
To try out my luck and pick up a friend with me to accompany me on my odyssey to a better kitchen.
I had the luck of getting to go in, I DIDN'T GET TO TAKE PICTURE OF THE ENORMOUS GEODUCK! SO CREEPY!~~~
XD
I like Geylang's alleys during the day time.
See, random or not?
AN ORGANIC FOOD shop plopped in the middle.
We ventured in to take a look at the goods offered and were rather intrigued~
The people inside were so friendly some more.
Unlike some stupid China Minimart boss that chased me away. MFer. Should have pretended I didn't know how to speak Chinese and screw up his head for a little while.
Walk walk walk,
Prayers were due to start a while more.
Newspaper man, I have an aunt who LOVES these vendors, she likes how convenient it is just drive past and buy the news papers and go off.
Whenever I want to buy a magazine I try to buy it from these vendor as well, I'd rather they earn the money then others like 7-11. Their livelihood is just the magazines man.
Jen tried to explain the chinese words but I still don't get it. HEH!
JEN, YOUR SHOT!
We soon made a pit stop at,
for light refreshments. THEY DO NOT HAVE COLD SOYA BEANCURD T_T
They have xiaolongbaos though, but taste different! SO odd! I was kinda skeptical when I read off the board that Yong he sells xiaolongbaos, and these xiaolong baos came without any juice in them.. -.- Juiceless xiaolongbaos.
I did manage to get 2 new light fixtures. The same cannot be said for the heater though, my budget was $150, the ones I saw were either $120 ( Too cheapo) or the high end ones $190 & above.
So too bad for me.
We soon headed different ways and I went off to this place to eat dinner.
The smelly beancurd outlet along Geyland road.
OH MAN, THE SMELL!!!! TERRIBLE! However, their porridge is AWESOME!!!!!!
Oh well, I do hope I'm not the only one that doesn't hate Geylang for similar reasons above!
